MEDITATING IN CIRCLES

MEDITATING IN CIRCLES

I remember as a little girl
how I used to chase the wind in circles
for hours on end
meditating on the eye of the storm
with peals of laughter traveling on the leaves
to places I had never even seen
Innocence wrapped up in a warm winter coat
a serene solitude
and long conversations with invisible beings
playing alone on the driveway
I didn’t have a care in the world

Distant sounds of the amusement park
and traffic congestion subliminally enter my ears
I never felt the cold
and didn't even care that my socks were not a pair
All I wanted to do
was chase those leaves
round and round and round
until I dropped
so dizzy
I would fall
giggling
in a heap on the cold winter ground

Now, as the woman I have become
life has a way of coming full circle
I no longer chase the leaves
…only my dreams
Which will lead me one day to places Ive never been
but more importantly
to find that place I will call home
...my one true destiny
the whisper of the wind putting my mind at ease

  1. The whisper may be subtle, but the reveal rings like high noon in a bell tower.

    Very sweet poem, Divinia.

  2. What a great poem. And so appropriate for a cold wintry day.
Maybe if you stand still long enough the leaves and your dreams msy come to you. ♡
