ENHEDUANNA - Priestess of the Moon

ENHEDUANNA 

Priestess of the Moon

It was some four thousand years ago

In the ancient desserts of URUK

Between the fertile crescents

of the Euphrates and Tigress

There lived an Akkadian High Priestess

A Poetess

Moon Goddess

Who went down in herstory as the first person

To sign her name

Her fertile mind travelled through gates of wonder

Transporting her thoughts across four millennia

As she longingly pondered the evening sky

Her pulsations

Her vibrations

Travel through space time

Her inscribed sagacity etched in stone

Conversations with the moon and stars

Deities up above
and ancestors from Afar
to reach you and I

Innana,

Her dual Venusian nature

Goddess of both  love and war

Masculine and Feminine

who can turn the hot midday sun into darkness

She herself adept

to descending into  the depths

of the dark underworld

To emerge soon after to the heavens above 

Innana

Venus will have a great destiny 

throughout the entire universe

I now know that over the millenia

We have both been looking 

at the same bright star in the night sky

Inscribing our names

our hopes

our desires
which will stand the test of time

Our hearts and minds

somehow entwined

We also share another inscription

our Ancestry

Written into our DNA

The inspiration for this write came after watching an episode of
 COSMOS a spacetime Odyssey epsode THE IMMORTALS

I also incorporated a line from one of her poems

Innana is the Sumerian Goddess she (ENHEDUANNA)
 often wrote about
Innana is a word for Venus in Uruk/Sumerian language

THE REASON

THE REASON

I will never say that I know you too well

That would be very presumptuous of me

But something inside seems to know intuitively

when you are hiding things from me

I know it’s not a deceitful thing,

far from it

It’s just that, 
I  feel like you have some misguided sense of shame

Like you feel you need to hide your pain

You feel like you should not burden me

With what’s going on in your world

Instead you run away from me

Rather than sharing what’s in your heart.

PLEASE

Do not do that with me

I DO understand why it is so difficult for you

because I’m more like you than I care to admit.

But at the same time

I feel like I’ve let too many opportunities slip

Or Ive not picked up what was really going on

Until it’s too late.

What terrifies me is that you may go down a path

That you feel you can’t or don’t want to return from

And I can’t let that happen to you.

I would rather look foolish than to keep quiet any longer

As much as I have days where I feel like quietly slipping away

I will never do that because Ive got my babies to stay strong for.

But WHAT ABOUT  YOU?

Is there something that is stronger than your deepest despair?

keeping you here

Or is it all just too much

Do you feel Hopeless

Lost

That it’s not worth fighting for anymore

Do you need a reason?

I’ll be your reason

I am your reason

You are what I’m working towards

You are the light I am aiming for

You are what keeps me going

You are where I want to be
Because you mean everything to me

STORMY TEE

Stormy tee

A Tempest brewing

within unresolved affections

mind sex in private moments

lead you to believe I was the one.

But I never spoke of my intentions

you put me on the mantle to admire

but I smashed your precious illusion

when you tried to infuse your bitterness

disguising it with a spoon of sugar

I refused to swallow

I am Ice cold Tee
